S17 - Not lowering our guard for the next pandemic - A multi-sectoral One Health approach to preparedness

Session description

How prepared are we for the next global health emergency? Can we be better prepared for the next pandemic by changing our approach to public health? As the world continues to navigate through various challenges and crises, the need to closely work together to improve our preparedness for future health threats becomes ever more critical. With most emerging infectious diseases originating from animals, a unified and proactive approach is essential.Imagine working even more efficiently together across the sectors to integrate human, animal, and environmental health in a comprehensive way, creating the foundation for a robust defence against health crises. We need to build a public health infrastructure that is resilient, adaptive, and ready to face the challenges of tomorrow. In this session, we will explore how the One Health approach can significantly improve Europe's preparedness for pandemics and other public health emergencies and discuss the impact of cross-sectoral collaboration, research coordination and stakeholder engagement on public health resilience. Together with a panel of experts at the EU and Member State level, we will be sharing knowledge and best practices with a focus on finding a comprehensive, integrative approach to One Health.Join us in this important conversation!
