S18 - Health for people in vulnerable situations

New approaches to tackling health and inequality in the European social pillar

Session description

Principle 16 of the European Pillar of Social Rights calls for all European Union Member States to provide timely access to affordable, quality healthcare. The indicators and data selected to assess progress towards this goal affect the policies and actions taken to ensure the equitable provision of this right. The approaches that are currently being applied may not, however, improve the health outcomes of people in a vulnerable situation, such as older people, people with chronic illness, people with disabilities, ethnic minorities, or people from marginalised communities. This workshop will explore more effective, non-stigmatising clinical and policy-level solutions that can contribute to improving trust in health systems and to rebuilding the social contract.
